Zen of Sewing

Zen is about finding calmness and enjoyment… in sewing.

While experiencing the process of learning something new, whether it’s sewing, patternmaking, learning a new language, or anything else, I’ve come to understand that cultivating patience and self-compassion is the best way to minimize the challenging feelings that come with making mistakes or the perception that progress is too slow. The key is to keep making progress, even if it’s just one baby sloth step at a time.

I’ve personally found contentment and growth in sharing with our community of sewists, designers, and business owners. Realizing that I’m not alone, Zen Of Sewing was inspired by the idea of sharing and creating.

My journey reflects my deep passion for fashion, sewing, patternmaking, and technical design. My love for creating garments began at a young age, crafting clothes for my Barbie dolls, a passion nurtured by my mother and older sister. This early interest in design and fabric laid the foundation for my future success in the fashion industry.

As I pursued my passion, I became an Apparel Technical Designer, working with top retailers and building a reputation for my meticulous attention to detail. My expertise in garment construction and fit made me a sought-after expert, combining style with functionality in my designs. My technical background became a key asset throughout my career.

Embracing new technology, I mastered 3D apparel design, training companies in its implementation and revolutionizing the way garments are prototyped and designed. My blend of traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology continues to inspire, demonstrating my ability to lead and adapt in the evolving world of fashion design. I enjoy every aspect of garment creation, from idea, sketching, patternmaking, sewing, fitting, testing, to pre-production.
